What to Look for in a SCUBA Class

Whether your interest is driven by a passion for undersea life, environmental study, collecting or photography, we can help you begin your new adventure into the world of underwater exploration.

We emphasize a mentoring relationship with our divers because we believe there is no substitute for the relationship between diver and instructor through all phases of a diver’s development.

Before enrolling in any SCUBA class, ask these questions.

  • Is the Dive Management and Dive Science portion of the course instructor-led, with opportunities for discussion, cooperative learning, and attention to multiple learning styles?
  • Will the course teach you to dive in a variety of environments?
  • Does the course include confined water training? Will this phase of the course offer you hands-on experience in problem management, including how to rescue another diver in distress?
  • Does the course allow you to repeat-attend the knowledge-based sessions without charging you to do so?
  • Does the course include Advanced Buoyancy Control techniques?
  • What options are offered for the Qualification Dives (“check out” dives)?
