NEW to SCUBA? Here's an Orientation

Whether your interest is driven by a passion for undersea life, environmental study, collecting or photography, we can help you begin your new adventure into the world of underwater exploration.

SCUBA certification is a “passport” required for underwater exploration. It is valid for life and for environments that approximate those in which your training took place. Obtaining your passport is done through our SCUBA class.

SCUBA CLASS OVERVIEW

i) Dive Planning and Dive Science

How does the human body adapt to underwater conditions? What do I need to know about dive equipment and different diving environments? This phase of your learning will include discussion on the roles, activities, and conditions that every SCUBA diver encounters and the variables that influence dive excursions.

ii) Dive Management Skills

Hands-on training – getting into the water with Dive Ops professionals who will assist you in mastering “life-skills” for diving.  This phase includes safety measures, rescue techniques, and how to communicate with a “buddy.”  Our Dive Ops professionals will provide you with the time required for you to feel confident in all skills.

iii) Qualification Dives

A supervised dive excursion – put everything that you have learned to work in a dive environment.  Known in industry lingo as the “check out dives,” you will plan, conduct and problem-solve five dive excursions (typically over a two-day period) with a buddy.

"Why don't you offer quickie, cheapo, drive-by SCUBA classes?"

We do not offer “quick fix” classes. We offer individualized training. Our instructors exceed the current standards of the leading SCUBA certifying agencies (ie: NAUI, PADI, DAN, HSA). Aquatic Explorers Society emphasizes a mentoring relationship with our divers because we believe there is no substitute for the relationship between diver and instructor through all phases of a diver’s development.

When it comes to Dive Education, you get what you pay for. Before you enroll in any SCUBA class, do your homework. (See What to Look for in a SCUBA Class). If you want a more detailed overview of our SCUBA course, here's where to learn more.
